Lots of food, hours spent at the table or on the couch, drinking sweet drinks and alcohol… you know that?

Holidays are a time when we easily abandon healthy habits, throw ourselves into the whirlwind of events and quickly gain weight. But as they say, “Holidays, holidays and holidays after the holidays” and we are left with extra kilos and zero motivation to improve this state (at least until New Year’s Eve and New Year’s resolutions). So how do we not get completely lost in holiday laziness? Here are a few ways:

  1. Don't abandon your routine - if you started your day with a quick morning workout, try to find at least 15 minutes in the morning before you head to the kitchen and tackle your holiday duties.
  2. Take one or two family members for a brisk walk. Fresh air and a bit of exercise will do you all good.
  3. Use every possible moment to move. While cleaning or cooking, play loud music and… dance! Dancing burns a lot of calories and gives you an endorphin boost!
  4. Create a plan and schedule for your workouts (one that you can easily stick to). If you do this ahead of time, it will be hard to find a good excuse.
  5. Make a bet with someone close to you who will stay active throughout the holidays – there’s nothing like a bit of competition!
  6. If you have a pet at home, volunteer to take it on every walk (even late at night!)
  7. Burn calories…by cleaning! Yes, we know – it’s not the most enjoyable task, but did you know that you can burn up to 250 calories during an hour of cleaning?

As you can see, even a small activity can make your holidays, instead of just sweet laziness, also bring a lot of good to your well-being and health!

So – Happy and active holidays!
