May Day is primarily associated with beautiful weather, active time spent outdoors, and barbecues with family and friends! Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this May Day will be different, but let's try not to make it worse!

Actively, meaning?

We can enjoy the benefits of the outdoors relatively freely, i.e. while maintaining an appropriate distance, while remembering to cover our faces with a mask. What does this mean in practice? That we can go for a walk, run, ride a bike or roller skate. After a cloudy autumn and winter, strict quarantine, it is worth taking advantage of every opportunity to spend as much free time as possible outdoors. Our body is simply asking for a good dose of vitamin D, which is produced when the sun's rays reach our skin.

So remember not to spend a long weekend in front of a TV or computer screen. Sitting on the couch all weekend long in search of new series may be tempting, but it certainly won't be good for your physical and mental health. Plan at least one activity (workout, walk) for each day - it will pay off!

Healthily

May Day is all about grilling together. This year, exceptionally, we won't be able to meet in a large group of friends (where we were usually tempted by unhealthy snacks and a lot of beer). We therefore propose that this year's celebration be accompanied by two slogans: delicious and healthy! Did you know that grilled dishes have less fat, and grilled meats and vegetables mostly retain their nutritional properties?

When you go shopping, don't forget to fill your shopping baskets with fresh vegetables and fruit, cheeses (goat and sheep), beef, lean poultry and oily fish (such as salmon). All of these products are great on the grill. To further boost your immunity, add a vitamin bomb to your dishes in the form of sauerkraut and pickled cucumbers.

Family-friendly

In the daily rush, it is hard for us to appreciate simple activities, such as preparing meals as a family or a simple walk. Now I have more than enough time together and it is worth seeing the positive aspects of it, despite everything. This time next year, we will look at this period from a completely different perspective, and as the famous Polish proverb says, "after the storm, the sun always comes" and let's remember this especially during this year's May Day weekend.

Stay healthy!
