Supplements for fighters – Guard – a complex of vitamins and minerals
Guard from the Fight Club line is a supplement that is a multi-vitamin and mineral complex that also contains ginseng extract. The product is ideal for both combat sports and strength sports.

What lies within the Guard ?
A set of vitamins and minerals, each of which plays a unique role in the body. I will allow myself to briefly present the main functions of the vitamins contained in it, and I will devote separate articles to minerals and ginseng.
Water-soluble vitamins:
B-complex is a set of vitamins that ensures the proper functioning of the nervous system, as well as energy metabolism. Their deficiencies lead to changes in the nervous system and skin changes, such as cracked corners of the mouth, canker sores or inflammatory changes in the mucous membrane of the mouth and tongue. However, each of them has additional, unique properties, as described below:
Vitamin B 1 – reduces the amount of lactic acid in the muscles and accelerates their regeneration. If you consume large amounts of coffee and/or tea or smoke cigarettes, your need for thiamine increases.
Vitamin B 2 – takes part in the metabolism of glutathione – the strongest natural antioxidant. A significant increase in demand occurs in stressed and very active people.
B 3 , on the other hand, is also known as niacin or vitamin PP , a vitamin whose main task is to participate in the metabolism of fatty acids, as well as in the process of creating insulin, thyroxine (T4) and steroid hormones. In case of deficiency, one should expect a possible decrease in the glycogen reserves of the body.
Pantothenic acid, or vitamin B 5, is a substance involved in the metabolism of steroid hormones. Without B5, the synthesis of neurotransmitters would be significantly more difficult, if not impossible at all. Pantothenic acid supplementation is also used in the case of persistent adult acne. In this case, the treatment is often supplemented with L-carnitine, which allows for the use of much lower doses.
Vitamin B 6 is a compound whose supply should be strictly dependent on the amount of protein in the diet. It is assumed that for every gram of protein, about 0.02 mg of pyridoxine should be administered. It affects blood pressure and the production of hemoglobin, supports the regularity of the heart and proper muscle contraction.
Biotin , or vitamin B 7 or H, is involved in leucine metabolism and the process of gluconeogenesis (the formation of glucose in the body). In the case of hyperglycemia and/or insulin resistance, the need for biotin increases.
B 9 is folic acid , which, in addition to influencing the formation (in fetuses) of the nervous system and ensuring its proper functioning, ensures proper blood supply to the body. Deficiencies are a direct path to megaloblastic anemia and a decrease in the ability to synthesize DNA.
Vitamin B12 is an exceptional vitamin. Its adequate supply ensures the integrity of myelin sheaths, and thus efficient neurotransmission. Deficiencies, apart from life- and health-threatening disorders of the nervous system, also result (in earlier stages) in megaloblastic anemia and increased homocysteine levels, and consequently in cardiovascular risk.
Ascorbic acid – the famous vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, helping to maintain the redox balance of the body. It ensures proper collagen production, prevents drops in immunity, and minimizes the risk of injury.

Fat-soluble vitamins:
A – a strong antioxidant that protects cell membranes and DNA fragments from oxidation. It plays an extremely important role in the vision process, and its deficiencies initially lead to the so-called "night blindness", i.e. deterioration of vision in low light conditions, especially around dawn and dusk, and then to permanent damage to the visual organ. Other symptoms of deficiency include dryness and roughness of the skin.
D – oh, in recent years, many master's theses and doctoral dissertations have been written documenting the effect of this vitamin on the body. In addition to the famous one - on the mineralization of hard tissues, it affects the body as a whole - it ensures an appropriate level of testosterone, and its deficiency, in addition to a decrease in androgen levels, affects the decrease in VO2max and the number of fast-twitch muscle fibers.
Vitamin E is another antioxidant that also supports fertility and enables the production of anticoagulant compounds, thus preventing blood clots.
Vitamin K , which has also been much talked about in recent years, is a compound responsible primarily for the proper degree of blood clotting, and therefore the lack of hemorrhages and troublesome bruising.
Guard is, as I mentioned, a complex product containing a package of many substances. Of course, it would be a sin to say that every athlete must supplement vitamins and minerals. However, this is a definite convenience, especially during difficult training periods, when the demand for vitamins and minerals can be maximized, and a restrictive diet can cause problems with their proper supply.
