According to popular and universal philosophy – a healthy mind in a healthy body! Sometimes, however, there comes a time in life when taking care of regular physical activity fades into the background. The reasons may be very different, for some these are the first serious health problems, for others it will be the belief that the gym is a place for the young and at a certain age you should simply give it up. Nothing could be further from the truth!

Training for mature people

When, if not now?

Regardless of the level of daily activity we have managed to maintain on a daily basis, as we enter the autumn of life, movement becomes a key element in maintaining health for many years. Researchers of the blue zones (places on Earth where people live the longest) emphasize that regular physical activity is one of the main reasons why many residents of these regions manage to exceed the magical barrier of 100 years. Movement has a beneficial effect not only on our body, but also on the mind.

Nordic walking? There are so many other options.

Many people associate exercises for people over 60 primarily with the characteristic Nordic walking poles. This is a very popular form of activity that came to us from Scandinavia, where it is practiced by people of all ages. However, walking with poles is just one of many possible options! Tennis, zumba, aqua aerobics, yoga or even pilates - all of these activities will bring not only health benefits, but also a good dose of positive energy. More and more clubs offer classes prepared with mature people in mind. Don't be afraid, try a few options and you will definitely find something that will suit your temperament.

Gym for everyone

We always emphasize this: there is no magic age limit beyond which it is no longer appropriate to go to the gym or to any physical activity. Training in a club is for everyone. If you are afraid of visiting a local gym, start with outdoor exercises. Outdoor gyms are a great way to get a solid dose of exercise. The equipment always has a diagram of the individual muscle groups that they engage, along with a short instruction manual. If you want to try training in a club, we recommend working with a personal trainer who will help you choose the right exercises and make sure that you do not overexert yourself, which is especially important at the beginning of your adventure or after a long break.

A few rules

Before you start exercising, always remember to warm up! If you struggle with health problems, start by visiting a specialist who will advise you on the best form of exercise for you. Give your body some time to adjust to the new activity and don't be discouraged if the results are not as fast as you expected. Patiently work towards your training goals, and set yourself a higher goal of feeling better.

A daily dose of inspiration

If you need additional motivation to exercise, we recommend checking out Wojciech Węcławowicz's Instagram profile (@fit_oldboy). This 66-year-old is living proof that a sporty figure is possible to achieve at any age, and age is just two numbers. Respect!
