RECOMED® Thickener is a food for special medical purposes for the dietary management of swallowing disorders. It is a product for thickening liquid foods and beverages. RECOMED® Thickener is a powdered product that does not alter the taste or smell of thickened liquids and foods. It contains xanthan gum.
RECOMED® Thickener is amylase-resistant, meaning it is not broken down by the enzyme amylase, which naturally occurs in the body and is responsible for the digestion of carbohydrates, especially starch. In practice, this means that the product can survive the digestive process in the mouth and intestines, where amylase acts, without being broken down into simple sugars. This is particularly important for delayed carbohydrate absorption and improved blood glucose control.
Important information:
This product must be used under medical supervision. It should not be used as the sole source of nutrition. This product is intended for adults. Use only to thicken beverages and food.
Warning:
The product is not intended for parenteral use.
Precautions and contraindications:
Use with caution in patients requiring a low sodium diet.

USE
Dissolve a portion of the product in 200 ml of liquid. The amount of product used depends on the desired density (3 g, 6 g or 9 g per 200 ml). Mix thoroughly and leave to thicken. 1 flat scoop = 3 g of product. The product must be used under medical supervision. The product cannot be used as the sole source of nutrition. The product is intended for adults. Use only to thicken drinks and food. The product is not intended for parenteral use. Use with caution in patients requiring a low sodium diet. Store at room temperature, in a dry place, in a closed container, out of reach of small children. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. A dietary supplement cannot be used as a substitute for a varied diet.
